You begin your trip at 9am at the The Wave Almouj Marina with a short introduction and safety briefing by our local representative. All the fun starts after that. At 9.30am, begin your leisurely 3-hour sail to the Damaniyat Islands Nature Reserve. Spread across 247 acres, the Reserve comprises of nine stunning islets surrounded by coral reefs. Swim, snorkel, say hello to moray eels, barracudas and hawksbill turtles. Spend your day exploring the virgin white beaches and wind it down with a barbeque dinner under a glittering canopy of stars. Wake up in time to see the sun rise in the cerulean sky. The water shimmering in the early morning light looks cool and inviting. Dive in for a quick swim before enjoying a scrumptious breakfast onboard. As you begin your journey back to the Almouj Marina, enjoy the open waters and the wind in your hair. Today, post breakfast visit the formidabale Round Tower Fort of Nizwa and hear about its impressive role as Nizwa’s stronghold in Oman’s history. Once you’ve had your fill of the bloody but fascniating war stories, amble over to the New Souk for a contest of a different kind. Drive a hard bargain with the shopkeepers for beautiful silver and Omani souvenirs. You have one more stop before you reach Wahiba. The charming village of Birkat Al Mauz where you can visit a date plantation and go for a walk through the lush greeenery. Enjoy the serenity of the moment, for in a short while you will be on a roller-coaster drive over the vast and undulating sand dunes of the savagely beautiful Wahiba desert. Don’t forget to fasten your seatbelt, it’ll be an experience of a lifetime. (Overnight stay at Desert Nights camp in Wahiba.)
Visit a Bedouin home today. Share a drink, have a conversation, may be make a new friend. Then get ready for your journey to Wadi Bani Khalid. After the wilderness of Wahiba, you’ll find the Wadi’s pretty mountain villages and pools of clear, turquoise water a stark contrast. Visit the fish jetty and dhow factory in Sur and the Sanseela fort. Check-in at the Ras Al Jinz Scientific Centre. Tonight, trained guides will escort you to the beach to watch endangered green turtles coming in to nest in the sands. (Overnight at the Scientific Centre)
Today you drive back to Muscat, but not before you’ve taken in some gorgeous sights along the way. Your first stop is Fins, a pristine stretch of powder white beach where you can relax and sunbathe for a while. And as if that wasn’t idyllic enough, up next is Bimah Sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with emerald waters that you can simply jump into. The drive that follows offers up some great views of the Sultanate’s stunning coastline. On clear sunny days one might catch sharks basking in the deep blue water, or fleet footed Gazelle, as they sprint across the rugged terrain. And finally, Wadi Arbayeen, with its refreshing deep pools of water set admist date palms, makes for a perfect setting to end your trip. You now return to Muscat, for your flight back home.
